Relax with New Age Music During the Season of Lights

Its the holiday season once again.  Time for shopping, giving, parties… and stress?  Why not put on some new age music to help you relax and chill while you cook or wrap presents!  When there are so many things vying for your attention, my best advice is to attend to yourself first.  When you fly on an airplane, they always say to put on your own face mask first, before helping others.

Don’t get me wrong – I am not saying that the season of lights is an emergency!  Far from it!  But there are a lot of competing demands for our attention, and that can feel overwhelming at times.  This is a clear signal to you to unwind with a bath, some headphones and a good book!

Marcome: River of Soul to the Seven Seas

As you may already know, some of the inspirations for my ambient new age music are travel, exercise, and simply enjoying life. I take the feelings I am experiencing and imagine how they sound.  When I am inspired, I translate that sensation to inspiring music.  When I am contemplative, the result may be a spiritual song.

Over the years, I have learned to allow the music composition process to unfold naturally.  It cannot be forced.  There are days where it seems like songs are practically bursting from my soul!

Recently, I was interviewed by Susan Leak of the Birmingham Music Examiner.  We talked about my new age CDs, River of Soul and Seven Seas, and my creative process.  I shared some of my dreams and the new projects I am working on.

I think that 2010 is going to be an exciting year… come along from the River of Soul to the Seven Seas… and beyond!

Ambient Music To Enrich Your Life

Of the music in my home record collection, I find myself frequently listening to ambient music to relax, inspire or simply enrich my life.  Each song carries with it unique memories and allow for a new sense of freedom in the present.  Each time I listen, I am moved in new ways.  To slow down.  To listen.  To simply be.

I listen to ambient music to create a background to my inner world. It sometimes need to be songs that are musically airy and open, without too much lyrics in order to allow my inner voice to arise. To accompany a dinner with friends, ambient music rhythms and sounds are sometimes a more neutral ground!

You probably already know that sleep is vital to your health and well-being.  When I’m well-rested, I am happier, more creative and I think my music shines a bit more brightly. Your face will show it too!  Sleep is just as important as a balanced diet and regular exercise.

I know -  it can be really frustrating trying to get natural sleep, but using aides instead of medication can help you enjoy a brighter tomorrow in the morning.  I’d like to share 10 tips I use for falling asleep.  I’ve tried hard to set a routine and stick to it, so I can be at my best every day!
